NCP Blog: Thanksgiving Week, Food, Family, and Shopping

Happy Thanksgiving week! This week typically is filled with lots of food, lots of family time, and lots of shopping. This weekend traditionally kicks off holiday shopping, so whether you buy food for Thanksgiving dinner or gifts for family and friends, you’re most likely going to be spending time in a store.

After several years of less-traditional celebrations, it feels like holidays are mostly back to what they were before the COVID-19 pandemic. Will your Thanksgiving include large groups of people, or do you keep your celebrations small? Let me know in the comments!

Let’s take a look at some popular Thanksgiving topics…

On our Facebook page this week, we asked our followers to share their favorite Thanksgiving side dishes. Many panel members shared traditional side dishes:

    • Mashed potatoes
    • Stuffing
    • Sweet potatoes
    • Yams
    • Green beans
    • Cranberry sauce

It was interesting to find out some of the less-traditional sides that many of you enjoy! Perhaps this will give you some new ideas for your Thanksgiving meals:

    • Traditional dishes but made vegan instead
    • Fried apple slices
    • Carrot casserole
    • Spinach casserole

Take a look at all the responses on our Facebook post and leave your own comment! And, if you aren’t already following our Facebook page, now’s a perfect time to give us a “like!”
